Later next month it will be coming up on a year since I launched The Edge Report. There were about 10 of you who trusted me enough to purchase a one year subscription right out of the gate and another 5 or 6 since then. Along with the 20-25 monthly subscribers I thank you! I hope you feel you’ve got your monies worth and it has been a good investment. Hit me up on Twitter with your thoughts, advice or comments on how things have gone or improvements I can make moving forward. I try to provide insight and reasoning behind my selections for each card. Even when I am wrong I hope you can see that there has been a thought process I go through in writing the report. I try to pack as much information as a can in about two sentences for each horse.
Tough card last night at Los Al. I think my second pick won half the the races including the Denim N Diamonds with Jet Wings One. There were a couple of DQs, one was top selection El Bobito Bet Cartel in the 7th. My initial thought when watching the replay was that he would stay up. The DQ in the previous race was a no brainer. The good news is there is a pick 6 carryover of close to $20K for Sunday’s card. Let’s see if tonight’s Edge Report can’t point a subscriber or two in the right direction to take it down. Correction: The pick 6 carryover was $10,400 for tonight. I mistakenly looked at last night’s pool which was $19,269 when stating it was close to $20k.
Race 1 - 4½ Furlongs MC 3500 MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UP
Innate (9/5) has the speed to go to the front early. He may have Willis to contend with but that one has been fading out of it and takes the blinkers off tonight so may get out like he did in his last and never be in contention. The most probable scenario is a wire to wire win. Humboldt (2/1) couldn’t run by Innate two back and had every chance to do so. Last out he fell well back in the field before making a big late run. A move like that may get him there tonight. My Friend Johnny (4/1) SCRATCHED is a firster whose dam has produced 6 winners in 7 starters. He would not be a complete surprise if he was a runner. I don’t know the percentage of first time starters that win $3.5k maiden claimers at Los Al but it is not very high. Got to be less then 10%. Mongolian Dream (5/1) ships in from Santa Anita and has not run a step in his last three tries. My guess by looking at the owner of this one is he was a private purchase for Sergio Morfin since last raced because Jaime Morfin now owns.
ADDED COMMENT: The scratch of My Friend Johnny does not change much in the pick 4. This is a two deep race, three if you toss in Mongolian Dream.
