It’s going to be a good Saturday. After being cooped up last weekend with bad weather we have sunshine here in Northern California where I live. On the agenda for today is golf, a nice dinner and then racing at Los Alamitos. Not sure I could draw it up any better. Of course if I go out and shoot 90 I may feel a little different. Here is a look at tonight’s 9 race card.
Race 1 - 4½ Furlongs MC 3500 THREE YEARS OLD AND UP
I am looking for a price in this wide open event to start the weekend. 8 Mongolian Spun (6/1) is lightly raced and has not broken well in his three lifetime starts. Maybe the blinker off helps him get out of the gate. He finished just 3/4 a length back of Longhorn Lassie last out and that one came back to win nicely against maiden $5k claimers. 9 Artie Ville (3/1) may be the outside speed and able to clear into the turn. I don’t love the post draw for him but the drop in class can help him overcome it. 5 Rainbows On Ice (5/2) should be closer early against this field than what we saw in her last when she looked to run up on heels and then lose ground shortly after the break. Two back she showed decent pace out of the gate when running at this level. 6 Notch (6/1) makes his second start at Los Al and off the layoff for trainer Angela Aquino. He tried maiden special weights in his effort two weeks ago so dropping into this bottom level maiden claiming event should help.
