12 years ago my wife and son went to our local shelter and picked out a puppy to bring home. Justin selected a cute black small mixed Australian Shepard and they brought him home. Justin named him Cudi, after a rapper named Kid Cudi. Cudi has lived with us ever since but was always Justin’s dog, though he became as attached to my wife as a dog could be. Cudi was diagnosed with diabetes a couple of years ago and went blind shortly thereafter. We managed the disease with twice daily insulin shots and he lived happily and with vigor. He got around so well that one would not know he was unable to see. I started to notice Cudi having moments when he seemed out of it when my wife was out of town for a couple of weeks checking on our business in Idaho that Justin started and now our other son Joshua manages. They didn’t last long but it was a concern. I thought he may be going deaf. On Tuesday night it became more of a concern as he was not steady on his feet so I drove him to the ER about an hour away. He had low glucose levels so initially it looked like we would just need to adjust his insulin and everything would be fine. Unfortunately further tests revealed very low red blood platelets witch indicate a high risk of internal bleeding. He was admitted to ICU and by Wednesday morning he was showing signs of internal bleeding. After difficult conversations with the vet in charge of his case and many questions we made the decision to give him a peaceful departure from this life as the other options were not going to be good for our special guy. My wife and I drove back to Sacramento and spent some time with Cudi before letting him go. The reason this story is special is because Cudi past away on April 3rd, the same day and to the hour that Justin left us 3 years ago. I have no explanation for this and I have never been one to believe too much in coincidences. I guess it was time for the two to be reunited. For those who have not seen my son Justin’s story here is the link to the ESPN NFL Countdown piece done by Adam Schefter. Tonight’s Report follows.
Race 1 - 1000 Yards Mdn 16.5k THREE YEARS OLD AND UP
3 Acceleration (7/5) has hit the board in four straight races, all while running up front early. Hee looks to be the speed of the field unless first time starter 8 Anastasio's Secret (2/1) is fast out of the gate. That one has posted a few nice drills in the morning for his debut. 6 Artie Ville (6/1) should be in it from the break. He followed my top pick throughout in his last. If first timer Anastasio's Secret is not a runner he can complete the exacta. 1 Kimberly's Devil (15/1) is one paced but can follow early leaders around the track on the rail and get into the exotics.
