Looking forward to a great Labor Day Weekend of racing at Los Alamitos. I hope everyone gets to spend some quality time with their family and friends. I am taking my wife on a small getaway to celebrate our anniversary which was last month and escape the oppressive heat we are dealing with in California. Hoping the Bay Area may be a little cooler because 110 degrees is not golfing weather and if I stay home I may find myself out on the course trying to stave off heat stroke.
Here’s a look at tonight’s card.
Race 1 - 1000 Yards Mdn 18.5k MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UP
1 Divinely Diverse (7/5) ran with Mr. Freebie two back and that one finished 3rd last Saturday against allowance company after running up front early into an opening 8th of 22.54. Without much speed here he may be able to shake loose and go wire to wire. 6 Asphalt Andy (5/2) will look to settle into a good spot off the early lead and has the late kick to make a run down the stretch. 5 Alex's Dream (5/1) is a bit of a wild card. He had much trouble at the start of his debut last July and dropped well off the pace early on. He made up a couple of lengths from there while finishing 6th. With an improved start he may be able to have a say in the outcome of this race. 4 Mongol Song (8/1) ran into trouble around the turn and into the stretch in his last while chasing Dazzling Joker who finally popped and never stopped last weekend. I see him closer tonight and moving well late.
